If you have watched seasons one and two of Squid Game, you will know almost anything can happen on the show.

The Front Man Has Broken Seong Gi-hun’s Spirit
During season two, Seong Gi-hun focused his efforts on protecting his fellow players while trying to destroy the games from the inside.
After a while, Player 456 convinced players to fight back against The Front Man and his Pink Soldiers.
However, Hwang In-ho (The Front Man) got the better of Gi-hun by killing his best friend Jung-bae in front of him.
As Gi-hun’s army was stopped, the remaining players will likely be forced to participate in the remaining games during season three, and the experience might impact Player 456 psychologically.
As a result, he might adopt the mindset of “if you can’t beat them, join them,” resulting in him stepping into The Front Man’s shoes.
While many fans believe it might provide the perfect twist in the final season of Squid Game, current betting odds indicate that Seong Gi-hun won’t become The Front Man.
Hwang In-ho (The Front Man) and Seong Gi-hun Are Former Winners
Hwang In-ho and Seong Gi-hun share one important similarity, which could indicate that Gi-hun could step into the role of The Front Man in the third and final season.
If you have watched the show, you will know that unfortunate circumstances forced them to compete in the games. In-ho is also a former winner, as he won 45.6 billion as Player 132 in the 28th Squid Game in 2015, five years before Gi-hun.
As the men share a similar past and are former winners, the experience has likely helped them gain the leadership skills needed to flourish as The Front Man.
The Fortune Teller May Have Predicted Seong Gi-hun’s Future
During the Mingle game in season two, a fortune teller told Gi-hun that he would live longer than he was supposed to before saying, “You’re here for a reason. You were drawn by destiny.”
While the audience might have initially believed his destiny was to destroy Squid Game, it might be to step into the role of The Front Man.
Lee Jung-jae Didn’t Deny the Rumor
During a recent interview with Jimmy Fallon, Lee Jung-jae, who plays Seong Gi-hun, didn’t confirm or deny the rumor that his character will become The Front Man.
As he didn’t outright deny the fan theory, it has sent the rumor mill into overdrive that he could slip into the role in season three. However, becoming The Front Man goes against everything Gi-hun stood for during season two.
Of course, fans won’t know if there is truth behind the fan theory until season three of Squid Game arrives on Netflix on June 26, 2025.
Until then, you can rewatch the first two seasons to look for clues that Seong Gi-hun will become The Front Man.
