Will Rick Hatchett be the First Victim in The White Lotus Season 3?
Many fans of The White Lotus have been patiently awaiting the arrival of season three. After three years away from TV screens, the popular HBO comedy-drama will return on February 16, 2025.
As the show has killed off at least one character every season, it is natural to wonder who will next meet their demise.
A recent trailer for the third season features a body bag, proving the show will include another death, but it’s unclear who is lying inside.
Also, it provides hints about how the death may occur in the Thai resort, as it shows a montage of guns, an armed robbery, and someone jumping from a boat.
As the third installment promises a brand-new cast, apart from a few familiar faces, it is anyone’s guess who will pass away. However, Rick Hatchett appears to be a frontrunner.

Rick Hatchett is the Favorite
Bookies’ odds suggest Rick Hatchett will be the first victim in season three of The White Lotus.
Walton Goggins (The Shield) plays Hatchett, who travels to the White Lotus resort in Thailand with his beautiful girlfriend, Chelsea, who is much younger than him.
HBO has described his character as “a rugged man with a chip on his shoulder,” which could lead to conflict between his girlfriend or another guest, causing his untimely death.
During the trailer, Chelsea says to Rick, when reading through a hotel brochure, “Stress management, meditation… year, you need this.” It suggests that Hatchett struggles with stress or anger, which could lead to his passing.
Who Are Other Contenders?
Timothy Ratliff, played by Jason Isaacs, appears to have it all in season three of The White Lotus. He’s a successful businessman enjoying a stunning vacation with his wife, Victoria, and their three children.
Despite appearing picture-perfect, the family is rather complicated. It appears Timothy’s business and finances are struggling, and he attempts to share his worries with his wife, who is used to the finer things in life.
During the trailer, a clip shows Rick Hatchett looking for someone before he bumps into Timothy, with the two seemingly becoming immediate enemies.
It is, however, the Ratliff’s youngest son, Lochlan, who earns the most screen time in the trailer, as he says, “If everybody gives into their base instincts, it’d be total depravity. Like a race to the bottom.”
As the family isn’t free of conflict, time will tell if one of them decides to give into their base instincts.
If you have watched the official trailer for season three, you might remember the clip of Jaclyn, played by Michelle Monaghan, provocatively dancing in a club while characters Laurie and Kate gossip about her.
Laurie, played by Carrie Coon, says, “She literally lives off male attention,” causing Kate, played by Leslie Bibb, to reply, “It’s pathetic.”
As the three friends appear more like enemies at times and aren’t afraid to say how they feel, it wouldn’t be a shock if Jacyln or another friend met a bitter end during season three.
Creator Mike White may have hinted that one of them will pass away, as Kate says, “What happens in Thailand stays in Thailand… It means we’re not dead yet!”
