Scottie Scheffler was unstoppable throughout 2024 with seven tour victories. He also triumphed in the Hero World Challenge for the second straight season. Unfortunately, he sustained a hand injury in late December and that will keep him off the course until potentially early February. There’s nothing to suggest that his form is likely to drop off, yet he may take a couple of months to rediscover his groove.
Rory McIlroy has struggled to get over the line in Majors and it’s now a decade since his last success in one of the marquee events on the golfing calendar. Xander Schauffele enjoyed a remarkable 2024, securing two majors and picking up numerous accolades on the PGA Tour. He has looked a lot more confident in the closing stages of high-profile events and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him carry on where he left off in 2025.
Collin Morikawa went close numerous times last season and is unlikely to be far away from securing a major this time around. He is searching for a third major success. Ludvig Aberg is an golfer with enormous potential and looked competent in Augusta last season. Viktor Hovland is another contender whereas LIV regular Jon Rahm may be able to turn on the style at one of the major events this season.
