Karol G has cleared up at various award shows in 2024, as she won her first Grammy for Best Musica Urbana Album and was named Billboard’s Woman of the Year 2024.
Also, she has enjoyed much chart success this year. For example, her song “+57” dropped in November 2024 and peaked at number four in the US Hot Latin Songs. Plus, it hit the top spot on Billboard’s Colombia and Ecuador charts.
Also, her track “Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido,” translating to English as “If I Had Met You Before,” peaked at number one on Billboard charts across the world, including the United States, Peru, Colombia, Chile, and Bolivia, to name a few.
Not to mention “Contigo,” translating to “With You,” reached number 3 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs.
If Karol G does win the award, she will stop Bad Bunny from securing his fourth consecutive win in the category.
The Puerto Rican singer-songwriter made history at the award show last year by becoming the first artist to win the accolade three years running.
Karol G is arguably his biggest competition in the category, but the King of Latin Trap is far from a dark horse.
His fourth studio album Un Verano Sin Ti, which translates as A Summer Without You, is the most streamed album on Spotify at present, as it has earned more than 18 billion streams and counting.
Also, he embarked on the Most Wanted Tour in 2024, bringing his biggest songs to his fans across the United States and Canada.
Many of Peso Pluma’s songs have, however, appeared on the Billboard Hot 100 this year, such as “Igual que un Angel” and “La Intencion,” meaning he is firmly in the race for Top Latin Artist.
Plus, his critically acclaimed studio album Exodo was number one on Billboard’s US Top Latin Albums, US Regional Mexican Albums, and US Independent Albums. It even peaked at number five on the US Billboard 200.
He brought the tracks to his fans on the Exodo Tour in the United States and Mexico, too, which could give him a good chance at picking up the award for the first time.
At present, the bookmakers view Fuerza Regida and Junior H as the category’s underdogs. However, Fuerza’s album Pero No Te Enamores hit the number two spot on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums, and he headed off on tour.
Also, Junior H has enjoyed phenomenal success on the Mexican Billboard chart, with many of his songs from 2024 entering the top 10.
