Who Are the Nominees for Single of the Year?

There is no doubt there have been many fantastic country music songs released in 2024, but only five acts have received a nomination for Single of the Year.

The nominees are:

  • “I Had Some Help” – Post Malone featuring Morgan Wallen
  • “White Horse” – Chris Stapleton
  • “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” – Shaboozey
  • “Watermelon Moonshine” – Lainey Wilson
  • “Dirt Cheap” – Cody Johnson

Who is Most Likely to Win Single of the Year?

While each of the above acts is worthy of the award, the current odds are tipping Chris Stapleton to walk away with it for “White Horse.”

The hit song already won Best Country Song at the 2024 Grammy Awards, beating away competition from Morgan Wallen, Zack Bryan, Brandy Clark, and Tyler Childers.

The 46-year-old country star wowed the crowd with his guitar-riffing track at the 2023 CMA Awards, creating an iconic moment in the event’s history. Therefore, it may come as no surprise to many that he’s the favorite to scoop the accolade this November.

Chris Stapleton is no stranger to the CMAs, as he has won 16 awards throughout his career. As he’s nominated for five awards in 2024, he has the chance to become one of the most winning CMA Awards Artists in the ceremony’s history. All he needs to do is win three of his five awards to break Vince Gill and Brooks & Dunn’s record of 18.

If Stapleton doesn’t deliver an acceptance speech, it would hardly be a surprise if Lainey Wilson, one of the ceremony’s three hosts, accepts the award for Single of the Year for her track “Watermelon Moonshine.”

It is her fifth consecutive number one single at Country Radio, and it reached the top spot on Canada Country (Billboard).

She’s currently the second favorite to win the award this November, but she faces stiff competition from Chris Stapleton’s “White Horse.”

Another strong contender is rapper/singer Post Malone’s “I Had Some Help,” which features country star Morgan Wallen.

The popular song made its debut at the top spot of the Billboard Hot 100, providing Post Malone with his sixth number one song and Morgan Wallen with his second.

It is currently the second-longest running number one of 2024, as it held onto the top position for six non-consecutive weeks throughout the year.

Not to mention, the song made music history upon its release, as it made its number one debut on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs Chart and the Billboard Hot 100, maintaining the position for its initial five weeks, which is the first achievement of its kind.

Therefore, it will take a big song like “White Horse” and “Watermelon Moonshine” to win Single of the Year over it, meaning Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” and Cody Johnson’s “Dirt Cheap” are less likely to win.

If you believe Cody Johnson’s “Dirt Cheap” will win Single of the Year at the Country Music Association Awards 2024, you could win $600 by betting $100 at 1xBet if it happens.
