Who are the Nominees?

The Academy’s Judging Department will carefully consider the best drama series from the 21 qualifying countries, including Argentina, Australia, Colombia, France, Germany, India, and the United Kingdom, to name a few.

While the TV professionals had many options to choose from, only four nominees were announced on September 19, 2024.

The nominees are:

  • Les Gouttes de Dieu (Drops of God) – France (Legendary Entertainment / Les Productions Dynamic / 22H22 / Adline Entertainment / France Télévisions / Hulu Japan)
  • The Newsreader season 2 – Australia (Werner Film Productions / Australian Broadcasting Corporation / eOne)
  • The Night Manager – India (Disney+ hotstar / Banijay Asia / Ink Factory)
  • Iosi, El Espia Arrepentido (Yosi, the Regretful Spy) season 2 – Argentina (Amazon MGM Studios)

Who is Most Likely to Win?

India’s The Night Manager is one of two favorites to win Outstanding Drama Series at the 52nd International Emmy Awards.

The Hindi-language TV crime series is a remake of the UK version of the same name, which is based on the 1933 novel by John Le Carre.

It tells the story of a night manager working at a luxury hotel in Dhaka who is thrust into a scheme to infiltrate a criminal’s inner circle.

If The Night Manager doesn’t win the award, The Newsreader is a strong contender to do so.

If you’ve yet to watch it, it follows the story of Dale, an ambitious reporter, in the cutthroat world of commercial TV news during the mid-1980s.

Season two of the hit Australian show has enjoyed much critical acclaim since it aired, and it was the fourth most-watched adult drama series in the country in 2021.

Also, it has enjoyed international acclaim, airing in various English-speaking countries, including the United Kingdom. Plus, it has received a score of 100% out of 17 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, a review aggregator site.

Due to the show’s popularity and critical success, The Newsreader could be tough to beat, and The Night Manager is seemingly its biggest competitor in the category.

However, the French-Japanese drama Les Gouttes de Dieu, translated in English as Drops of God, could surprise fans by winning the award for Outstanding Drama Series.

The Apple TV+ show, based on a manga series of the same name, earned a score of 100% out of 25 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, proving it’s popular with critics and audiences alike.

It tells the story of Camille, the estranged daughter of the late Alexandre Leger, who discovers his extraordinary wine collection belongs to her.

Less likely to win is season two of Argentina’s Iosi, El Espia Arrepentido, translated in English as Yosi, the Regretful Spy.

It follows an Argentine intelligence agent who infiltrates a Jewish community to gather information that will be used for two of the worst terrorist attacks in Latin America.

If you believe Iosi, El Espia Arrepentido will win Outstanding Drama Series at the International Emmy Awards 2024, you could win $800 by betting $100 at 1xBet if it happens.
