Who are the Nominees for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series?

Seven actresses from three fantastic shows have each earned a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

The following actresses are worthy of the award for their layered characters and superb performances, which encourage audiences to tune in week after week.

The nominees are:

  • Christina Baranski – The Gilded Age
  • Karen Pittman – The Morning Show
  • Lesley Manville – The Crown
  • Elizabeth Debicki – The Crown
  • Greta Lee – The Morning Show
  • Holland Taylor – The Morning Show
  • Nicole Beharie – The Morning Show

Who is Most Likely to Win the Award?

Elizabeth Debicki is the current frontrunner to win Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

The talented actress gave a fantastic portrayal of the late Princess Diana in The Crown, and even her biographer commented it was “like being in the room” with the Princess of Wales.

Her captivating, respectful performance in the show’s final season will likely result in Debicki lifting the award this September.

Of course, she faces tough competition from her co-star Lesley Manville, who delivered a calmer, more poised portrayal of Princess Margaret.

While her performance might be less memorable than Debicki’s, The Crown’s final episodes fared much better with audiences, which could result in the 68-year-old actress giving an acceptance speech.

The Morning Show’s Holland Taylor is familiar with the award, as she proudly accepted it in 1999 for her role as Judge Roberta Kittleson in The Practice.

The 81-year-old proves age is just a number in acting, delivering a superb performance as the no-nonsense network board president Cybil Richards in The Morning Show.

While the actress has appeared in the show throughout the seasons, it is the racism scene with Nicole Beharie that could help the legendary actress scoop the award again. Of course, Nicole Beharie is in contention for the award, but she might not have done enough to stand out against Cybil Richards’ shambolic TV interview.

As Nicole Beharie and Holland Taylor played a bigger role in season three, it is unlikely Karen Pittman and Greta Lee will win over their co-stars, as they are arguably more worthy of the award.

Christine Baranski is the only actress from The Gilded Age to receive a nomination in the category. Despite providing another unforgettable performance in the hit HBO show, she might not prove as popular with the TV Academy members, who clearly favor The Morning Show and The Crown.
