Who Will Win Best Supporting Actor at the Academy Awards 2025?

Since the 9th Academy Awards, some of entertainment’s finest actors have been presented with the Best Supporting Actor Oscar.

Past recipients of the respected award include Jack Lemmon for Mister Roberts (1955), Robert De Niro for The Godfather Part II (1974), Denzel Washington for Glory (1989), and, most recently, Robert Downey Jr. for Oppenheimer (2023).

Jamie Lee-Curtis is likely to present the 2025 Best Supporting Actor recipient, as it is tradition for the previous year’s Best Supporting Actress to do so.

The nominees haven’t been announced yet, but there is already speculation online about who the winner might be. Continue reading to find out more.

1xBet’s Odds at 1.667 predict a 60% chance that Clarence Maclin (Sing Sing) will win Best Supporting Actor at the Academy Awards 2025 ::: Discover the current Odds now HERE

Who is Likely to be Nominated for Best Supporting Actor?

The Oscar nomination voting period is scheduled from January 8 to 12, 2025, and the nominees will be announced on January 17, 2025.

While you will need to wait for official confirmation, various actors’ superb performances have resulted in media outlets tipping them for a Best Supporting Actor nod.

Possible nominees (and winners) include Kieran Culkin (A Real Pain), Stanley Tucci (Conclave), Jeremy Strong (The Apprentice), Jesse Plemons (Kinds of Kindness), Samuel L. Jackson (The Piano Lesson), and Clarence Maclin (Sing Sing).

While the above actors are favorites to earn a nomination, other possible actors that could be voted for by members of the Academy include Denzel Washington (Gladiator II), Ed Norton (A Complete Unknown), Stephen Graham (Blitz), and Adam Pearson (A Different Man), to name a few.

Who is Likely to Win the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor?

Clarence Maclin is the current frontrunner for the Oscar statuette and plays a younger version of himself in Sing Sing, which has resulted in much critical acclaim.

It is Maclin’s breakout role as an actor and unlikely to be his last. He proved he has the acting prowess to share the screen with veteran Colman Domingo, who plays Divine G, a man who has been wrongfully imprisoned but finds a purpose by acting in the prison’s theater group.

Kieran Culkin has a real shot at winning Best Supporting Actor for A Real Pain at the 2025 ceremony. The phenomenal actor made the smart decision to team up with Jesse Eisenberg, who wrote, directed, and starred in the movie.

It is Culkin’s first film since Succession came to an end, and it confirms that he is more than worthy of the acclaim he received during the show’s run. After the credits stopped rolling on A Real Pain at the Sundance Festival, movie critics tipped the 41-year-old actor for Best Supporting Actor.

Samuel L. Jackson might finally lift the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor at the 2025 award show. The legendary actor earned a nomination in the category for Pulp Fiction 28 years ago but lost out to Martin Landau for his role in Ed Wood.

However, it is his role as Doaker Charles in The Piano Lesson, a movie adaptation of August Wilson’s critically acclaimed play, that could help him walk away with the statue.

He had almost as much screen time as John David Washington, and it could be argued that he is a co-lead in the movie. As he offers an exceptional performance in the meaty role, Jackson might seem an obvious choice for the Best Supporting Actor award.

Of course, movie lovers won’t know who will win the award until the ceremony, which is scheduled for March 2, 2025, at 7 pm EST. You can watch the event on ABC, ABC.com, or via the ABC app, or stream it on Hulu Live TV, FuboTV, YouTubeTV, or AT&T.

If you believe Jesse Plemons (Kinds of Kindness) will win Best Supporting Actor at the Academy Awards 2025, you could win $1300 by betting $100 at 1xBet if it happens.
