Who will Sing the Theme Song of the Next James Bond Movie?
James Bond is a fictional detective who was created by the novelist Ian Fleming. The long-running series of films was based on the original novels and they have proved to be hugely popular with a worldwide audience. He has also featured in comics and video games and is a highly recognisable figure. Although Bond is an ever-present in the franchise and is the main protagonist, he is joined by a series of recurring support characters including Q, M, Moneypenny, Blofeld and Felix Leiter. There have been 25 James Bond films produced with the character first making his cinematic debut in 1962’s Dr. No. Bond has also been portrayed by six different actors: Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig.
Why is it so Popular?
There are a myriad of reasons for the popularity of the character. Most notable perhaps is Bond’s life of luxury. The spy drives expensive cars, frequents beautiful locations and enjoys regular dalliances with stunning models. Furthermore, Bond, who is always portrayed as the ‘good guy’, always manages to save the day.
Bond also embarks on high-octane adventures, many of which involve risky stunts. Film fans enjoy seeing his confidence shine through as he attempts to rid the world of evil.
Although critics may claim that there are plenty of similarities between each movie, many fans love the familiarity of these releases and there is often enough time between the films for the appetite to be whetted. In addition to this, each of the films is set in a different location and there tends to be enough character variety to keep everyone satisfied.
The films have a mass appeal and many of the older releases remain fairly timeless.

Why is the Soundtrack Important?
Stand-out movies will be chiefly remembered for their plot and the characters, however, music will often be strongly associated with many of these releases. Although many soundtracks will be forgotten overtime, the music on James Bond films plays a hugely important role as it often sets the tone and the tempo for the movie itself.
The songs also tend to be standalone productions and they regularly get played on UK and US radio. The performers also tend to be fairly high-profile musicians in their own right and this also helps to engage the audience.
Every James Bond fan is likely to have their favourite soundtrack and there is always plenty of fanfare upon the release of upcoming soundtracks.
Previous Artists and Soundtracks
Many illustrious artists have been tasked with providing a soundtrack to James Bond films to varying degrees of success.
Popular soundtracks include Shirley Bassey’s Goldfinger, Paul McCartney and Wings’ Live and Let Die, Carly Simon’s Nobody Does it Better and Tina Turner’s Goldeneye. More recently, Adele’s Skyfall was a popular option whereas Billie Eilish’s No Time to Die became the first Bond theme to reach number one in the UK singles chart.
Duran Duran’s A View to a Kill from 1984 is the only Bond theme to have topped the US Billboard Hot 100.
Other artists to have been tasked with performing a Bond theme include Tom Jones, Jack White, Garbage, A-Ha and Gladys Knight.
Who is Likely to Perform the 2026 Bond Theme?
Many of those who are listed at the top of the betting have a fairly similar sound with the current favourite Chappell Roan often being compared to the second favourite Lana Del Rey. Both performers are incredibly popular and are hugely talented performers. Lady Gaga, who has previous form when it comes to film soundtracks is third favourite in the betting market alongside Dua Lipa.
Shirley Bassey is the only artist to have provided more than one Bond Theme (Moonraker, Goldfinger, Diamonds are Forever) and if you think that Adele can add her to name to that list, she is currently 8.0 to record a second Bond theme. 2024 Glastonbury headliner SZA is next in the betting, just ahead of Olivia Rodrigo and Florence and the Machine. Anyone who fancies a bigger price is able to back Coldplay, Lewis Capaldi and Muse at double-figure odds.
If you believe that Chappell Roan will be chosen to sing the 2026 Bond Theme, you could win €262.50 by betting €100 at Betfair if it happens.
