Could Oasis Break Up Before The 2025 Tour?

Oasis is one of the best-selling artists in music history, as the band has sold more than 75 million records internationally.

Earning eight number one UK albums, they are one of the best-loved groups in the country, with fans still listening to their biggest songs 30 years later, such as “Champagne Supernova,” “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” and “Stand by Me.”

However, constant infighting between brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher eventually caused the band to split in 2009, as Noel abruptly quit before their scheduled appearance at V Festival.

At the time, Liam blamed laryngitis for their absence, but Noel later claimed he left the band after his brother threw an object at him.

As the Gallaghers were notorious for fighting during the 1990s and early 2000s, it is natural to worry that they might go their separate ways before the band reunites on the Oasis Live ‘25 Tour.

Is It Likely That Oasis Will Break Up Before the Live ’25 Tour?

According to Dr Matt Grimes, an Oasis expert and a course director at Birmingham City University, Oasis could break up before the first gig in the summer of 2025.

He recently stated, “I think we need to hold back a little bit at the moment about how far this will go, and their relationship has always been fractious at best. It’s eleven months until the gigs. Who knows what will happen? We might find out by Christmas time that they’ve fallen out again and the gigs are going to be canceled.”

Why Did Oasis Break Up?

The arguments between Liam and Noel Gallagher were often viewed as a form of entertainment when the band was together.

Many may even argue that their public disputes helped to define the band’s image and international appeal.

Unfortunately, the bubbling friction between the brothers wasn’t an act to secure fans and increase album sales, as the arguments escalated and tension grew as the band enjoyed more success, causing them to part ways in 2009.

Tension first appeared between the pair during their famous NME interview in 1994, with the brothers battling it out in front of a camera. The interview became so famous that it was turned into a 14-minute song called “Wibbling Rivalry.”

The same year, Liam hit his brother over the head with a tambourine at Whisky a GoGo in Los Angeles during their first US tour, causing Noel to quit the band the next day before a quick return.

Also, Noel reportedly hit Liam on the head with a cricket bat during a recording session for the band’s album (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? in 1995.

Infighting continued throughout the years, with Noel quitting the band in 2009, stating he “could not go on working with Liam a day longer,” and later referring to his brother as “the angriest man you’ll ever meet. He’s like a man with a fork in a world of soup.”

As a result, Liam responded to the comment on Twitter (now X) with a video of him eating soup with a fork.

However, as the years have passed, and the brothers may have become older and wiser, they might feel ready to put their differences to bed to perform on stage together for the first time in 15 years.

Also, Liam told Rolling Stones Music Now that he would only be willing for Oasis to reunite if he and Noel became “brothers and friends again,” and “we’re talking to each other on a nice, respectful level,” which might now be the case.
