Some of the most talented women in comedy have received a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.

- Ayo Edebiri – The Bear
- Selena Gomez – Only Murders in the Building
- Maya Rudolph – Loot
- Jean Smart – Hacks
- Kristen Wiig – Palm Royale
Who is Likely to Win?
It is hard to predict who will win the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, as each has provided audiences with fantastic comedic performances.
However, Jean Smart, a clear favorite with the TV academy, is a strong contender. The two-time winner was recently forced to press pause on Hacks to undergo a heart procedure and returned to fine form as Deborah Vance, a legendary stand-up comic, in Hacks season three.
Last year’s winner, Quinta Brunson, could scoop the award for a second year running, but she has lost out to Smart in the category in the past. Also, she faces tough competition from Ayo Edebiri from The Bear, and the FX show has dominated many categories at the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards.
However, don’t rule Brunson out yet, as the talented actress shines during season 3 of Abbott Elementary, as her character enjoyed a brand-new arc as a district fellow, and a long-awaited moment finally occurred on screen.
Former SNL and Bridesmaid stars Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph have each received a nomination for their respective TV shows, Palm Royale and Loot. They might not have generated as much hype as other comedy series, but both actresses have the comedic chops to win this year’s award.
After all, Maya Rudolph has earned the most nominations of any performer this year and has taken home five Emmy awards already. Also, Kristen Wiig has been nominated for an Emmy nine times and had a bigger role in the critically acclaimed Palm Royale, which could give her the edge in the category.
Last but not least, Selena Gomez has finally been recognized for her comedic prowess in Only Murders in the Building. However, the TV academy has taken its time to recognize her talents, meaning they might be more likely to cast their vote for one of the above nominees.
