Who will be Crowned the 2024 Strictly Come Dancing Champion?

Who will be Crowned the 2024 Strictly Come Dancing Champion?

Strictly Come Dancing is an iconic British TV show broadcast on BBC1 each Saturday night during the final couple of months of the calendar year. It is presented by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.

The show features multiple celebrities who are partnered with professional dancers as they endeavour to master a new style or theme each week. Each celebrity couple will also be critiqued and marked by the judging panel, which features former Strictly Come Dancing stalwart Anton Du Beke, before being placed onto the weekly leaderboard.

There have been 21 series of the show and this institution of British TV is closing in on 500 episodes.

How Does the Voting Work?

Although the leaderboard is likely to shape the public vote, the Strictly Come Dancing viewers will decide the couple who get voted off at the end of the weekend. Voting lines are opened at the end of the Saturday night broadcast with the result announced 24 hours later. Viewers will text to save their favourite couple and the two pairs with the least votes will enter the dreaded dance-off. Here, they will asked to recreate their chosen dance under the watchful eye of the judges.

The judging panel will decide who should stay, however, if the vote is tied, head judge Shirley Ballas will get to cast the deciding vote.

22Bet’s Odds of 8.5 are predicting a 11.8% chance that JB Gill, a former member of pop band JLS will be crowned Strictly Come Dancing champion 2024 ::: Discover the current Odds now HERE

Previous Contestants and Winners

Soap star Ellie Leach, partnered by Vito Coppola, was victorious in 2023. She was joined on the dancefloor by former tennis professional Annabel Croft, Paralympian Jody Cundy and comedian Les Dennis.

Previous winners include Rose Ayling-Ellis, the show’s first deaf contestant who used British Sign Language to communicate. Comedian Bill Bailey, soap star Kelvin Fletcher and wildlife enthusiast Hamza Yassin are recent winners of the show. Other notable participants including former NFL star Jason Bell, Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty and popstar Fleur East.

Earlier winners include McFly drummer Harry Judd, Mis-teeq singer Alesha Dixon and former English cricketer Darren Gough.

Who is Set to Take to the Dancefloor in 2024?

The line-up for the 2024 edition of the show was drip fed throughout July and August with visually impaired comedian Chris McCausland one of the first to be announced. He has been installed as fourth favourite in the betting. He’ll be joined by former JLS member JB Gill, who has also presented a number of children’s television programmes in recent years.

Popstar Toyah Wilcox is the oldest of this year’s lineup at 66-years old whereas British TV star Sarah Hadland also joins the list. She appeared in the 2008 James Bond film Quantam of Solace.

Paul Merson is a former footballer and television pundit, who has also featured in a recent documentary charting his addictive tendencies. Sam Quek is a former field hockey star who features regularly on the BBC’s Question of Sport.

Tasha Gouri is a very interesting contestant. She is the show’s second deaf participant and has been a model, author and broadcaster. She appeared on the eighth series of Love Island, finishing joint-fourth.

Other contestants in this year’s show are: Wyn Evans, who starred in the Go Compare adverts in the UK, Eastenders actor Jamie Borthwick, reality pop star Shayne Ward and versatile TV presenter Nick Knowles.

Who is Likely to Win?

Although there has been some evidence to suggest that a previous background in music or performance art can be helpful, this has been disproved on multiple occasions in recent series.

Tasha Gouri will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Rose Ayling Ellis and the Thirsk-born star has been priced up as the early favourite. It’s been a mixed bag for Olympians in recent years, and Sam Quek will be hoping to fly the flag for sports stars. She is the second favourite.

JB Gill turned out to be a fairly competent mover during his time in JLS and he is next in the betting ahead of Chris McCausland, who will look defy his disability. The comedian will also inject some humour into the show and is likely to be a popular pick amongst viewers.

Toyah Wilcox and Sarah Hadland also have performing experience, whereas Paul Merson will just be happy to beat his former teammate Tony Adams who withdrew from series 20 due to injury.

Jamie Borthwick is available at 6.0, however, Eastenders stars have a decent record on the show.

If you believe that Tasha Gouri will be crowned Strictly Come Dancing winner this year, you could win €550 by betting €100 at 22Bet if it happens.
