Why Was Justin Timberlake Arrested?
After meeting friends at a local hotel and restaurant in Sag Harbor, New York, Justin Timberlake attempted to follow them home in his car.
However, the police later stated they stopped the singer at 12.37 am on June 18, 2024, as he was “operating his vehicle in an intoxicated condition.”
According to the cops, he failed to stop his 2025 BMW at a stop sign and didn’t remain inside his lane while driving.
Once stopped, they stated Justin was “unable to divide attention” and “had slowed speech. He was unsteady afoot, and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests.”
Was Justin Timberlake Driving While Intoxicated?
It is unknown if Justin Timberlake was driving while intoxicated, as he refused a chemical test three times.
As a result, the police officers arrested him, and he was held overnight for arraignment. After a night in the cells, Timberlake was released without bail and attended court on July 26, 2024.
He later denied reports he was driving while intoxicated, as he said he “had one martini and followed my friends homes.”
The pop star pleaded not guilty in court in July, and his attorney maintained his client wasn’t drunk and that the case should be dropped.
Despite his claims of innocence, Justice Carl Irace suspended Timberlake’s Tennessee driving license, and he will return to court on September 13, 2024.
Also, sources have claimed that he has an unhealthy relationship with alcohol, with one stating, “He’s been in a dark place” and that he started to drink heavily following the 2021 Britney Spears documentary.
What is Likely to Happen to Justin Timberlake?
Justin Timberlake might face various outcomes following his DWI arrest, including mandatory community service, participation in a substance abuse course, or prison.
The court will not ignore the fact that the singer refused to take a breathalyzer test on multiple occasions.
However, as it is Justin’s first offense, a judge is likely to go easier on him, and he is unlikely to face jail time.
