He has been openly critical of Nicholas Maduro, the current president of Venezuela, accusing him of election fraud.

Why Might Musk Fight Maduro?
Musk isn’t alone in believing that Maduro committed election fraud, as thousands of Venezuelans have recently protested the result.
Since then, Elon has claimed the Venezuelan president is a “dictator” and stated a donkey knows more than him.
Also, he shared videos of the many protests taking place across the country with his followers, tweeting, “Maduro is not a good guy. Venezuela deserves much better.”
Angered by Musk’s public claims and remarks, Maduro responded in Spanish, “I am not afraid of you. Let’s go at it. Wherever you want. As we say in Caracas in the neighborhoods, if you want it, I want it, Elon Musk.”
Musk, whose fight with Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg fell through, happily accepted Maduro’s challenge but believes it is unlikely to happen.
The SpaceX founder and CEO recently tweeted, “He will chicken out.” In true Musk style, he continued to tweet about the fight, stating if he, Zuckerberg, and Maduro entered the ring that only one person would emerge.
Musk even went as far as to create stakes for the fight, proposing, “If I win, he resigns as dictator of Venezuela. If he wins, I give him a free ride to Mars.”
However, he’s aware Maduro could prove a challenge in the ring, stating, “Maduro is a big guy himself and probably knows how to fight, so this would be a real fight.”
Also, he compared the fight to his potential bout with Mark Zuckerberg, stating, “Zuck is a little fella, so that would be a short fight lol.”
Since Musk accepted the bout, Maduro has failed to respond, and the future of the fight remains unclear.
It is likely Maduro is currently busy in his role as president. Plus, Venezuela’s Supreme Court has reportedly been asked to conduct a thorough audit of the presidential election following violent protests across the country.
Also, despite being eager to face off with Zuckerberg in the ring, the Facebook founder has rejected Musk’s recent invitation.
