Will Kendrick Lamar or Drake’s Diss Track Be Nominated for Song of the Year?
There is no love lost between Kendrick Lamar and Drake. A feud between the two critically acclaimed rappers started in 2013 when Lamar seemingly dissed Drake, as well as other rappers, on Big Sean’s song “Control.”
Despite initially rejecting reports of conflict, the artists have publicly fired shots in recent years, with many serious accusations thrown at each other in recent months.
Both rappers have released fiery diss tracks about one other. For example, Drake released “Push Ups,” “Taylor Made Freestyle,” and “Family Matters” in 2024.
Also, Kendrick Lamar has often been quick to attack with tracks “Not Like Us,” the six-minute long “Euphoria,” “6:16 in LA,” and “Meet the Grahams.”
The toxic relationship between the two rappers hasn’t only resulted in much press attention, but the tracks have garnered much critical acclaim in the music industry.
So much so that the rappers’ diss tracks could soon be nominated for Song of the Year at the 67th Grammy Awards.

Kendrick Lamar and Drake are no strangers to the Grammy Awards. Kendrick Lamar has won an incredible 17 Grammy Awards and received 50 nominations throughout his career, including Best New Artist, Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, Best Music Video, and the sought-after Album of the Year.
Also, Drake has earned five Grammy Awards and 51 nominations, lifting awards for Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, and Best Melodic Rap Performance.
Despite the rappers’ songs being fueled by anger and toxicity, it wouldn’t be surprising if at least one of the tracks receives a nomination for Song of the Year at the 67th Grammy Awards.
There was much debate if Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us” would be eligible for a nomination, as he accuses Drake of sexual misconduct and pedophilia in the lyrics.
However, Harvey Mason Jr., the Recording Academy’s CEO, has stated the song could be nominated for a Grammy this year.
When approached by TMZ Hip Hop at LAX Airport to comment if the diss track would be eligible, Mason Jr. replied, “Kendrick’s, obviously, has been successful with the organization, so I don’t see any reason why it couldn’t be.”
The CEO stated the final decision is in his team’s hands and that the song would be eligible for Grammy consideration if it ticks all the Recording Academy’s boxes.
