Who Will Direct the Bond 26 Movie?

Who Will Direct the Bond 26 Movie?

From Sean Connery to Roger Moore and of course, Daniel Craig, the James Bond film series is something of an iconic franchise.

This group of films have been popular for the last 50 or more years, but since Daniel Craig stepped away from the role of Mr Bond in 2021, many fans have been speculating about when the next movie will be or if there will even be one! Concerns were raised in 2022 after market giant Amazon acquired MGM, the company behind the franchise. However, screenwriter Michael G Wilson, who produced the films, assured moviegoers that the character would be back. He was right!

The new movie, Bond 26, is predicted to hit cinemas by 2025.

Betfair odds at 17 predict a 5.88% chance that Justin Lin will be the director. Discover the current Odds now HERE.

Who Will Direct The Movie?

The last movie that was released in the James Bond franchise, No Time To Die, was directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga. It was based on a screenplay that he co-wrote with Neal Purvis, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Robert Wade.

So, as the success of a movie is also about who directs it (as well as who stars as the leading spy/man), who is set to be the person to shout ‘action’?

There are a few possible candidates lined up, with Justin Lin, Danny Boyle and even Christopher Nolan being considered by fans.

What Makes A Successful Bond Movie?

Historically, the most successful James Bond movies have been those that have given a more in-depth insight into the way this character’s mind works, somewhat ushering aside the notion that he is a 2-dimensional character. So, which of the directors is likely to consider this when putting this movie together and, thus, be chosen for the job?

This puts many of the directors in the line-up into the frame, with Christopher Nolan famously making the cartoon villain the Joker a very 3-dimensional (and scary) character in the hit movie The Dark Knight, starring the late Heath Ledger. Of course, you need more than just one perspective or angle to be a good director, with Gina Prince Bythewood being another favorite, with her skills also being in writing and production.

Who Do The People Want To Be The Director?

It seems that James Bond fans want a director who is familiar with the franchise but is also familiar with action. Stands to reason!

Another potential director is Denis Villeneuve, who was involved in Dune and Blade Runner 2049, making him well-versed and experienced when it comes to making action movies.  However, leaks from Hollywood have shown that Christopher Nolan has already speculated that he would be more than happy to take on the role of the director for Bond 26, provided that some of his requests are met.

If you believe that Gina Prince Bythewood will be the director of Bond 26, you could win £500 by betting £100 at Betfair if she does.
