Which Broadcaster will Appear First on Happy Gilmore 2?
Earlier this year, Netflix announced that it had officially ordered a sequel to the cult-comedy classic Happy Gilmore, originally released in 1996.
The film might not have been widely praised by movie critics, yet it was still considered to be a box office success and 25 years later, it is still regularly referenced.
Adam Sandler will resurrect his amateur hero in 2025 and there has been plenty of speculation about whether Tiger Woods will make a cameo in this much-anticipated sequel. Although Netflix are yet to release much information on the upcoming release, Sandler has dropped several hints about potential appearances and this has left golf fans wondering which of the major broadcasters are likely to pop up.
Which Broadcasters Appeared in the Original?
Verne Lundquist is one of the most respected and recognised voices in the world of sports broadcasting and although he was originally a little concerned that Augusta National would not approve of his appearance in the spoof movie, he needn’t have worried.
Although he wasn’t cast as a broadcaster, The Price is Right host Bob Barker also appears in Happy Gilmore when he teams up with the amateur player during a Pro-Am tournament.
Mark Lye, who is a former golfer and broadcaster, also appears in the movie as himself and added some legitimacy to proceedings.
Jack Giarraputo is better known as a film producer and as Sandler’s roommate, and although he has no prior experience of working in sports broadcasting, he starred as Lundquist’s analyst in the original release.

Who is likely to Appear in Happy Gilmore 2?
With Verne Lundquis having officially retired from sports broadcasting, he is unlikely to reprise his role at lead commentator. At 83-years old, the veteran announcer is unlikely to take centre stage this time around.
Dan Patrick is the favourite to appear in the sequel with Sandler having already made an appearance on the sportscaster’s show back in April 2024. On this occasion, he told the 67-year old that they have a ‘million ideas’ and that they don’t want to let anyone down.
Patrick has made numerous TV and film appearances throughout his career including The Simpsons and Pixels.
Jim Nantz has also been spoken about as someone who could potentially make an appearance in Happy Gilmore 2. Having regularly anchored CBS’s Masters coverage, he would add plenty of gravitas to proceedings and give it plenty of authenticity. Although he isn’t renowned for his cameos outside of the world of sport, he has previously lent his voice to various computer games including Golden Tee Golf.
David Feherty may also be called upon. The Northern Irishman enjoyed a decent golfing career and has become a well-known voice in the world of sports broadcasting. Having recently joined the LIV Golf Broadcast Team, he may have slightly hampered his chances of appearing in this sequel, however, he would still be a fairly popular pick.
If you believe that Jim Nantz will be the first broadcaster to appear in Happy Gilmore 2, you could win €250 by betting €100 at 22Bet if it happens.Â
