As a result, it has become one of the most lucrative video game franchises, having generated billions of dollars in sales.
However, virtual American football will soon become much more exciting, as Electronic Arts (EA) recently announced it will release a college football game this summer alongside Madden.
CFB 25 is a college-inspired alternative to Madden and is the first game of its kind in over a decade.
As fans will soon have two football games to choose from, the big question is what will generate the most sales, Madden NFL 25 or CFB 25?

When and Where Can I Play Madden NFL 25 and CFB 25?
CFB 25 is already available to play, as it was released by Madden developers EA Sports on July 19, 2024.
It’s currently available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox Series X/S. Unfortunately, there isn’t a PC version of the college football game yet.
Madden NFL 25 is scheduled for release on August 16, 2024, and will be available to play on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Windows.
Also, you will soon be able to access the game via Steam or the Epic Games Store platforms or the Windows EA app.
However, the game is not to be confused with Madden NFL 25 (2013), which was released for the franchise’s silver anniversary.
What to Expect from CFB 25 and Madden NFL 25
College Football 25 is likely to provide a more immersive gaming experience, offering more detailed stadiums, settings, and college football traditions, which many fans believe Madden has lacked in recent years.
According to an EA Sports press release, “The sights, sounds, fight songs, mascots, commentators, and unique touches that make college football game days across all 134 FBS universities, bowl games, and the College Football Playoff will come to life.”
Madden NFL 25 will reportedly provide gamers with more control, offering physics-backed tackling, new commentary teams, improved playbooks, players’ signature styles, catching and pre-play, and 500 blocking animations.
What Game Will Generate the Most Sales?
As CFB 25 and Madden NFL 25 are made by the same company, the gameplay and smaller details will likely determine how successful the games are among fans.
Personal preference will likely shape the popularity of the games. For instance, college football fans might not hesitate to buy CFB 25, but NFL fans or Madden gamers might prefer to play Madden NFL 25.
However, demand for CFB 25 peaked before the game’s release, blowing EA Sports’ estimate of three million units out of the water and reportedly was “running ahead of what we have historically seen for Madden.”
