Will Hunter Biden Likely Go to Prison?

Will Hunter Biden Likely Go to Prison?

Hunter Biden, the second son of US President Joe Biden, was recently found guilty of three federal felony gun charges and lying about drug use.

It is the first time a family member of a US president has been found guilty of a crime during office, and he is scheduled to return to court in September to face a separate trial for tax charges.

The President’s son has faced many battles in his life, from drug and alcohol abuse to relationship woes, which have played out in front of the media.

The recent guilty verdict, alongside an additional tax trail, has many people, including the Biden family, wondering if Hunter will go to prison. Find out more below.

Why Did Hunter Biden Buy a Gun?

Following two months in rehab in 2018, Hunter Biden purchased a handgun and reportedly lied on the firearm application that he wasn’t using drugs at the time.

According to his defense team, Biden bought the gun as an impulse buy and stated he was placed under pressure by the pushy store owner.

Also, his attorneys claimed he was clean at the time of purchase and didn’t view himself as an addict.

The gun was disposed of 11 days later by his girlfriend, Hallie Biden, his brother’s widow, who stuffed it into a shopping bag and placed it in a bin, but it was uncovered by an elderly man hunting for plastic and aluminum trash.

What are the Chances Hunter Biden Will Go to Jail?

According to Professor Dru Stevenson from South Texas College of Law, there is a “50:50” chance Hunter Biden will go to prison.

If the judge orders a prison sentence, Biden could receive a maximum of 25 years for his three gun charges. The charge alone for being an illegal drug user in possession of a gun is up to 10 years.

Professor Stevenson believes it would be unprecedented if he received more than five years for his crimes, as anything higher is for “people that are really dangerous, like someone on the FBI’s watchlist.”

Although it’s hard to predict, Professor Stevenson thinks Hunter Biden will likely receive a prison sentence of approximately 20 months.

Probation instead of prison could be an option, especially if his legal team uses his drug abuse recovery to secure a lighter sentence.

However, it appears Judge Maryellen Noreika will be tough on the President’s son, as she was reportedly tough on Hunter’s lawyers during evidentiary hearings.

As a result, the judge may send a message to others by providing the 54-year-old attorney with a harsher sentence than expected.

Will Hunter Biden Be Pardoned by the President?

Although President Biden has the right to pardon non-violent federal crimes, it appears unlikely his son will receive it.

Before Hunter Biden’s trial, the President released the following statement, “I am the President, but I am also a Dad. Jill and I love our son, and we are so proud of the man he is today.”

However, he has stated to the media that his son will not be pardoned if convicted by a jury.

If you believe that Hunter Biden will serve a custodial sentence in a US jail or prison, having been found guilty of a crime, you could win $102 by betting $100 at 1xBet if it happens.
