Drake to Issue Legal Proceedings Against Kendrick Lamar in 2024

Rappers have been more than happy to trade insults throughout the decades.

For example, hip-hop fans will remember The Notorious BIG’s diss track“Kick in The Door” (1997) about Nas and 2Pac’s song “Hit ‘Em Up” (1996) aimed at Biggy.

Despite being an almost inherent part of rap culture, tensions are seemingly rising to an all-time high between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, as both have released many diss tracks aimed at each other throughout the years.

However, the personal slurs and accusations penned in their recent songs may even lead to Drake suing Kendrick Lamar for defamation.

How Did the Drake and Kendrick Lamar Feud Start?

Before tensions started rising, Kendrick Lamar and Drake were once on friendly terms, with the latter inviting Lamar to his Club Paradise headline tour in 2011.

Cut to 2024 and it’s hard to believe Kendrick Lamar once referred to Drake as a “genuine soul” who he “clicked immediately” with when they first met.

The friendship reportedly became frayed when Kendrick Lamar commented in various interviews that he found it superficial to brag about fame and money, which is something Drake hasn’t been afraid to do on his Instagram posts.

However, it was Kendrick Lamar’s verse on Big Sean’s song “Control” that proved he thought he was better than other artists, including Drake, upsetting the Canadian rapper.

Eager to strike back, Drake took aim at Kendrick Lamar on the track “The Language”, rapping “The kid with the motormouth/ I am the one you should worry about.”

Since then, the rappers have traded many insults on various songs and made public digs about each other in interviews.

As the years passed, allegations were made by both rappers. For instance, Kendrick Lamar hinted in his single “King Kunta” that some rappers used ghostwriters in their music, which Meek Mill later accused Drake of in 2014.

Why Would Drake Sue Kendrick Lamar?

The ongoing feud appears to be reaching boiling point between the rappers, with them recently dropping accusatory tracks aimed at each other.

For instance, Drake dropped a track in May 2024 that claimed Kendrick Lamar abused his fiancée. As a result, Lamar retaliated by releasing a song accusing Drake of addiction, plastic surgery, and hidden children, and released another track the next day accusing Drake, as well as others, of pedophilia.

With the accusations becoming more slanderous each year, many people are wondering if the feud may lead to Drake filing a defamation lawsuit against the Compton rapper.
